HOTEL REVIEW: RENDEZVOUS HOTEL, SINGAPORE

There’s something about Singapore that always has me coming back. It’s as if every time I visit I get a taste of something new and have to return for more – this time it was the art. I’d never thought of Singapore as an arts hub other than noticing some pretty unique architecture and vertical gardens – that’s until I stayed at The Rendezvous.

What does The Rendezvous offer? Located within the Arts and Heritage district of Singapore, the Rendezvous draws its inspiration from its surroundings.

Conveniently located by two interchange stations – Bras Basah and Dhoby Ghaut – I was able to make my way there easily from the airport. A few steps into the lobby I could already spot various paintings and artworks that lined the walls as well as incredible armour-like sculptures that sit atop the check-in desk.

Instead of just having passive art displays, The Rendezvous regularly changes the art installations, introducing local artists and new art forms including interactive multimedia experiences.

Upon check-in I was taken to level 11 where I could check-in to a club-room. The club-rooms sprawl across three levels – each with a different theme. Club-rooms offer a newly refurbished experience including breakfast, evening cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at the Club Lounge, and free WiFi as well as in room comforts including a 37” LCD TV, a safe, a handheld shower AND a rain shower. The Rendezvous also has deluxe rooms and superior rooms, which have similar in-room amenities.

Spacious, retro and comfortable are the words I’d use to describe my home for the night. The bed was big enough to fit a comfortable five of me and I was welcomed with a plate of brownies, macarons and cakes made from local ingredients.

Accessible from the lobby, the hotels award winning Straits Café offers a taste of the best of Singapore. The Straits Café sits within the plaza that connects to the hotel – other nearby eateries include Cappadocia Café, Kebabs N Pides, Baja Fresh Mexican Grill and so much more.

Outside, the Balinese inspired swimming pool sits beside the fully-equipped fitness centre that is accessible to all guests via keycard. The Rendezvous also has the facilities to hold tailored events within steps of the lobby.
