Datça Travel Guide: A Slow Slice of the Turkish Riviera

After two months of salty hair, sunset walks, and endless goat milk ice cream — here are my Datça favourites.

Tucked away on the southwestern tip of Türkiye’s Datça Peninsula, this little seaside town feels like it exists in its own slow, sun-soaked rhythm. Life here is simple but sweet — morning swims in turquoise coves, lazy afternoons wandering through artisan stalls, and balmy nights spent sipping cocktails under fairy lights.

Datça very quickly became one of my favourite destinations along the Turquoise Coast – and that mostly comes down to its relaxed and quiet nature, with a touch of nightlife whenever you wanted it. It may not shout for attention like Bodrum or Marmaris, but that’s exactly its charm. It’s the kind of place you come for a few days and accidentally stay for weeks.

☀️ Things to Do & See

  • Datça Sevgi Yolu – A palm-lined promenade that hugs the coast, perfect for sunset strolls or lazy beach days.
  • Taşlık Plajı – One of my go-to beaches for calm swimming and unbeatable views. The water here is glassy and clear — ideal for early morning dips before the crowds arrive.
  • Sevgi Yolu (Love’s Lane) – Don’t miss a wander through this charming little street dotted with handmade jewellery stalls, boho souvenirs, and locally crafted keepsakes. It’s the perfect spot for finding a unique reminder of your time here.

💉 For the Adventurous;

  • Tatt n Roll Tattoo & Piercing Studio – If you’re thinking of a souvenir that lasts longer than a tan, this is the spot. Clean, professional, and known for their delicate, travel-inspired designs. Emre is more than accomodating and always happy to trade travel stories!

Cafés I Love

  • No76 Cafe Datça – Cozy, modern, and full of friendly faces. It’s perfect for remote work and people watching.
  • The Coffee Grinder Datça – Smooth espresso, great pastries, and even better vibes. A quiet nook to escape the afternoon sun and refuel before heading back to the beach.

🍸 Drinks & Nightlife

Datça’s nightlife is effortlessly fun — think live music, creative cocktails, and rooftop bars where you can still hear the sea.

  • 48R – Be sure to say hello to the twins! 48R has the perfect sunset view over the port – where better to enjoy a frozen strawberry marg?? Be sure to order the Jack Frost — trust me, it’s dangerously good.
  • Sail Coffee Roastery & Bar – A café by day and a lively cocktail bar by night. Start with an iced latte, stay for the espresso martinis.
  • Dulcinea Cafe & Winehouse – A beautiful rooftop spot perfect for golden hour.
  • Coop – For something more local, this is the place to be. Great live music, chilled vibes, and a welcoming mix of travellers and residents.

🍴 Where to Eat

  • Misdo Dondurma – My favourite spot for Datça’s signature treat! Creamy goat milk ice cream is sold all over town and is as refreshing as it is unique.
  • Maradona Restaurant – A laid-back beachside restaurant where you can dig into fresh seafood and mezze right on the sand. It’s especially magical at sunset – don’t forget to give Maradona a wave at his table!
  • Eski Meyhane – A true local gem serving traditional Turkish dishes and endless plates of mezze. The atmosphere is friendly, authentic, and perfect for a slow, chatty dinner.

Datça might be small, but it’s one of those places that leaves a big impression. It’s peaceful without being boring, lively without being crowded, and full of those little local touches that make travel feel personal again.

If you’re chasing somewhere that still feels authentic — a corner of the Turkish Riviera that time forgot — Datça is that place. Come for the beaches, stay for the vibe… and maybe, just maybe, a Jack Frost or two. 🍸✨
